The Houston Rockets will face the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are fresh off their first title win since relocating from Seattle. After that, the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers face off, but L.A. will be without LeBron James. Kevin Durant will make his debut as a member of the Rockets after he was traded there in a historic seven-team trade in the offseason. These were the top two teams in the Western Conference last year, but home court could play a big role here. OKC went 35-6 at home in 2024-25.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>James will be absent in the opener due to an injury, but the Lakers still have an All-NBA-level talent in Luka Doncic. The Warriors are dealing with injury concerns, too, with Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler missing some time in the preseason. Atlanta will debut Kristaps Porzingis, while Brandon Ingram is finally ready to suit up for the Raptors after being acquired at last year&#8217;s trade deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Eastern Conference is wide open, so an opening night win over another competitive team would go a long way for either squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"acq_only\"><strong>-> <a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNjY1NzMyJnA9MzExMjU%3D\">Bet on the Toronto Raptors to make the NBA playoffs<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Atop the East could very well be the Cavs and Knicks. With Tyrese Haliburton and Jayson Tatum both out for the foreseeable future, this could be an early Eastern Conference Finals preview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later on, the Spurs and Mavericks could steal the show. Victor Wembanyama is already one of the most impactful players in the NBA, while Dallas was rewarded in the NBA draft (by getting the pick to select Cooper Flagg) after savagely trading away Doncic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flagg is expected to immediately make a huge impact at both ends of the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Raptors vs. Hawks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"cacheembed:119115\">Embed: #119115<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cavaliers vs. Knicks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"cacheembed:119114\">Embed: #119114<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spurs vs. Mavericks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"cacheembed:119116\">Embed: #119116<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opening week NBA matchups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All but two teams will play in the first two nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indiana Pacers and the Denver Nuggets will need to wait until Thursday to get their seasons going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indiana will play OKC in a rematch of last year&#8217;s Finals, but the Pacers won&#8217;t have Haliburton after he suffered an Achilles injury in Game 7 of the Finals.
