For today&#8217;s contest, Kevin Gausman starts for Toronto opposite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/eury_perez\/pitching-stats\">Eury Perez<\/a> for Miami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out my Blue Jays best bets vs. the Marlins for Aug. 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blue Jays best bets vs. Marlins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Best bet:<strong> Bichette over 1.5 total bases (+104)<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hard-hitting shortstop drove in the game-winning run in the top of the 12th inning before picking off the runner on second base to help secure the win in the bottom half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But he didn&#8217;t need the extra innings to top this line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, he had four singles in six at-bats, easily cashing this wager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That makes three straight games with at least two total bases for Bichette. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday, he&#8217;ll see Marlins&#8217; ace Eury Perez, but I don&#8217;t have much concern with the matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a very limited sample size, but Bichette has one hit in two at-bats vs. Perez in his career \u2014 nothing crazy, but still something that works in our favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More importantly, Perez has a below-average walk rate (9.3%), so there should be plenty of chances for Bichette to hit something hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the Marlins&#8217; Bullpen has a 4.34 ERA over the last 30 days and should be rather spent from last night&#8217;s lengthy contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key stat:<\/strong> Bichette&#8217;s on an eight-game hitting streak, slashing .424\/.472\/.545 during that span.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"cacheembed:117207\">Embed: #117207<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"insights\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/baseball\/mlb?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=sportsbook_mlb\">Full MLB betting markets<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"insights\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=injury_reports\">MLB injury report<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"insights\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=stats_pages\">MLB stats &amp; standings<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jays prop bet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Perez under 17.5 outs (-122):<\/strong> What drew me to this pick was that previously mentioned low walk rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toronto&#8217;s lineup is already hard to deal with, and it could be seeing the return of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Blue Jays strike out the fewest times per game (6.70)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toronto has the best batting average as a team (.267)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They also draw 3.28 walks per game (11th).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Three of their top four hitters (Bichette, Guerrero, and Alejandro Kirk) have better than an 85th-percentile K-rate, with George Springer sitting in the 67th-percentile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A healthy Jays lineup can do damage against any pitcher, and Perez should need to work hard in this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hard-throwing righty gets a lot of strikeouts (25.6% K rate) on top of walking a lot of batters.
