He enters today&#8217;s game with a 5.54 ERA and a 6.35 FIP across four appearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His command has been a major issue. Mederos has issued three walks and a home run in a pair of starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He really struggled his last time out in a 4-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, surrendering nine hits in just five innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Angels as a whole aren&#8217;t playing great ball, either. They&#8217;ve dropped five of their last seven, scoring more than three runs just twice during this stretch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chicago, meanwhile, has won six of its last eight (including three against the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/baseball\/mlb?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=sportsbook_mlb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Full MLB betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=injury_reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=stats_pages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB stats &amp; standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MLB SGP legs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Busch over 1.5 total bases (+102):<\/strong> Busch is usually a solid choice to mash against right-handed pitching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&#8217;s batting .277 versus righties compared to .262 overall, but it&#8217;s his power that has my attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twenty-two of Busch&#8217;s 24 home runs this year have come versus right-handed pitching. His .539 SLG against righties is noticeably higher than his season-long mark of .494.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Busch has topped this number in two of his last five games, totalling eight bases during this stretch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Opposing hitters have earned a hearty .970 OPS versus Mederos this season, setting Busch up to mash on Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Horton under 5.5 strikeouts (-182):<\/strong> Although I do like the Cubs to win, I&#8217;m skeptical of Horton racking up six-plus strikeouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly, this isn&#8217;t a mark he clears often. Horton has totalled five Ks or fewer in 13 of his 17 appearances this season (76.4%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&#8217;s not an elite strikeout arm by any means, owning a 29th percentile K rate this year, per Baseball Savant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Angels lead MLB in strikeouts per game (9.80), but I&#8217;m still dubious of Horton pitching deep enough into this game to get near this total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Horton hasn&#8217;t pitched six-plus innings in any of his four August starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Cubs vs. Angels predictions made at 1:03 p.m. ET on 08\/23\/2025<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chicago Cubs look to earn a swift series victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.
