This series starts with a bang, featuring a pitching matchup of veterans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/blake_snell\/pitching-stats\">Blake Snell<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/yu_darvish\/pitching-stats\">Yu Darvish<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See why I like L.A. to win and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/freddie_freeman\/batting-stats\">Freddie Freeman<\/a> to do damage in my Dodgers vs. Padres SGP <a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">predictions<\/a> for Aug. 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dodgers vs. Padres predictions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parlay: Dodgers to win | Over 7.5 runs | Freeman over 1.5 total bases (+380)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Dodgers moneyline (-129)<\/a>:<\/strong> Darvish can give way to a dominant bullpen (MLB-best 1.99 second-half ERA), but I don&#8217;t expect him to hand things over with a lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like the Dodgers&#8217; chances of getting to him early and building a lead they can hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They smacked Darvish around on Sunday for four runs and a pair of homers, chasing him after four innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And while Snell is still hard to gauge after&nbsp;missing four months, and can be his own worst enemy with control issues, he has prevented runners from scoring since his return.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snell has worked 11 innings over his last two starts without allowing a run.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Aug. 16 vs. SD<\/strong>:&nbsp;6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aug. 9 vs. TOR<\/strong>:&nbsp;5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 10 K<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Snell had an elite 34.7% K rate last season. The southpaw&#8217;s ability to work himself out of jams with punchouts \u2014 something Darvish can&#8217;t do nearly as well anymore \u2014 could be a huge key in the first half of this game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dodgers have won four of the five games started by Snell this season, and their bullpen has recorded the eighth-lowest ERA in the second half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond what I see as a pitching advantage tonight, the Dodgers have, without question, the better lineup. Shohei Ohtani is expected back after getting a rare breather on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/tallysight.com\/new\/widget\/betslip\/1755890394695-e188-402?id=955deb70-ddc3-4a94-b245-600f67db7f5c\" allowtransparency=\"true\" height=\"275px\" width=\"100%\" loading=\"lazy\" scrolling=\"auto\" style=\"border: 0; margin: 0 !important;\"><\/iframe><script async src=\"https:\/\/tallysight.com\/scripts\/widget-embed-min.js\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/baseball\/mlb?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=sportsbook_mlb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Full MLB betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=injury_reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=stats_pages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB stats &amp; standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MLB SGP legs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Over 7.5 runs (-122)<\/a>:<\/strong> I think this is a great price for an over involving the Dodgers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The over on this total is 11-4 in the Dodgers&#8217; last 15 games.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Los Angeles is second in the majors in wRC+ and home runs, and third in ISO.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>L.A. is averaging an MLB-best 5.20 runs per game.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Darvish has a 5.97 ERA and the highest xFIP of his career (4.36).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>San Diego can hit, too, which has been especially true since the all-star break. The club&#8217;s 117 wRC+ in the second half is the fifth-best mark in MLB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\"><strong>Freeman over 1.5 total bases <\/strong>(+108)<\/a>:<\/strong> Freeman has seen Darvish plenty. And at 39 years old, Darvish won&#8217;t be showcasing the best version of himself.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The all-star first baseman is slugging .600 vs. Darvish in 49 career plate appearances.
