{"id":363777,"date":"2025-08-19T14:55:45","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T18:55:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.northstargaming.ca\/admin\/nsgcms\/?p=363777"},"modified":"2025-08-19T14:55:45","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T18:55:45","slug":"tour-championship-picks-and-predictions-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.northstargaming.ca\/admin\/nsgcms\/tour-championship-picks-and-predictions-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 Tour Championship predictions: Best bets and matchup picks at East Lake Golf Club"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-c199e77d-4919-4da6-af55-aaebc1296dfd\">The top 30 PGA Tour players vie for the FedEx Cup at the Tour Championship this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-9c3cc2c7-1115-4d8b-b542-637fad067c45\"><strong>The latest:<\/strong> Scottie Scheffler is fresh off his fifth win of the season \u2014 and 14th since the start of 2023. He&#8217;s a heavy favourite to win this limited-field finale and put a bow on a historic campaign. I&#8217;m keying in on three players, including Viktor Hovland, a former winner at East Lake, in these picks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-4018230a-634c-4e00-b4d6-975112a67cb1\">Check out my Tour Championship predictions for the 2025 tournament beginning on Aug. 21. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-0daf7ebc-fbd3-498c-8598-8189b6955828\">Tour Championship predictions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-c2ea1d7d-b4a5-41fe-b1f9-798fc6ee8cde\"><strong>Best bet: Viktor Hovland over Justin Thomas (-120)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hovland and Thomas have each thrived at this venue, but I&#8217;m quite bullish on the former to separate from the pack this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Norwegian has been the second-best iron player in the world over the last three months by strokes gained: approach, and he ranked second in that category at the BMW Championship last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read: <\/strong><a href=\"Read: Tour Championship odds, betting preview &amp; outright picks\"><strong>Tour Championship odds, betting preview &amp; outright picks<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That propelled him to a T7 finish, 13 shots clear of Thomas, who finished T33. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elite ball striking will serve Hovland well at any venue, and I&#8217;m confident we&#8217;ll get that this week. But what really excites me is how the rest of his game is rounding out:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hovland has gained strokes putting in four straight starts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He&#8217;s also been an above-average driver in his last four starts. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PGA Tour has made it clear that East Lake will feature more difficult pins and have thicker rough this year. Hitting fairways will be key to setting up approach shots into the new hole locations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thomas has struggled mightily in that regard lately and is the least accurate driver in this field over the last three months (-10.4% below baseline).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key stat:<\/strong> Hovland won this event in 2023 and beat Thomas last year with a 12th-place finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-320ea7df-1987-4b52-9ad6-3f131d4c5ece\">More golf picks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-d9689b98-324c-494b-a1ab-0ddeed50aa6b\"><strong>Keegan Bradley over Corey Conners (-132):<\/strong> Conners has become a mainstay at this event, reaching the Tour Championship in four of the last five seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately for the Canadian, East Lake hasn&#8217;t treated him so kindly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has yet to crack the top 20 in a 30-man field and is gaining just 0.23 strokes per round. That is -1.19 below his expectation, the lowest mark of anyone in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conners is also in ugly form stateside, finishing in the bottom half of both FedEx Cup playoff events while losing a ton of strokes putting.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bradley has a lot to play for this week, given that a strong finish would justify a self-pick for the Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The American captain finished T17 last week and is typically an accurate driver with a great short game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-97fe7ebe-bb32-4883-9ec9-7361e71c0bfb\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/golf\/pga_tour?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=sportsbook_golf\"><strong>Full Tour Championship<\/strong> <strong>betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brian Harman top left-hander (+210):<\/strong> Harman will have to beat out two other lefties to win this wager, Akshay Bhatia and Robert MacIntyre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I&#8217;m loving these odds, given the way East Lake should fit his game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harman is one of the most accurate drivers on tour, which will help him stay out of trouble and avoid costly penalties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2023 Open Championship winner has proven to be a big game hunter and enters this event in strong form, gaining an average of 1.76 strokes per round in his last five tournaments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that span, he is positive in all four major strokes gained categories and has three top-20 finishes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-93274d5b-a99b-4c88-9c55-fa28b9931b05\"><em>Tour Championship predictions made at 2:33 p.m. on 08\/19\/2025.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The top 30 PGA Tour players vie for the FedEx Cup at the Tour Championship this week.
