The Red Sox bring a pitching edge with them into today&#8217;s matchup, and are my pick to win. Additionally, I&#8217;m backing the under on the total after a pair of higher-scoring games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out my <a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Red Sox vs. Padres predictions<\/a>, including a prop bet on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/trevor_story\/batting-stats\">Trevor Story<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Red Sox vs. Padres predictions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parlay: Red Sox ML | Under 9.5 runs | Story under 1.5 total bases (+360)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Red Sox ML (+118)<\/a>:<\/strong> Brayan Bello has been stellar for the Red Sox, and I expect that to continue on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s how he&#8217;s performed since the start of July:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5-2 record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2.42 ERA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3.89 FIP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>He enters this contest after one of his best outings of the season. Bello ceded zero earned runs across six innings in a winning effort against the Kansas City Royals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Padres pitcher Dylan Cease hasn&#8217;t performed nearly as well. He has a 4.78 ERA and 4.26 FIP since the beginning of July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boston also boasts a <a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">better offence<\/a>. The Red Sox are fourth in runs per game (5.01), while the Padres are a lowly 24th (4.13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-10146156-2d6b-49a8-b097-37743fd550b5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/baseball\/mlb?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=sportsbook_mlb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Full MLB betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=injury_reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=stats_pages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB stats &amp; standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MLB SGP legs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Under 9.5 runs (-250)<\/a>:<\/strong> There are several reasons to expect a lower-scoring affair in this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bello&#8217;s recent results play largely into this pick. The Red Sox have gone under this total in seven of their last 10 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The under on this total has also been a common occurrence when Cease takes the mound. San Diego has gone under this mark in 10 of his last 14 starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Padres have been one of the best under teams this season, sporting the fifth-highest under rate in the MLB (56.6%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Playing at <a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Petco Park<\/a> is always a plus for an under, too, as it&#8217;s one of the most pitcher-friendly fields per MLB Park Factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Story under 1.5 total bases (-245)<\/a>:<\/strong> I&#8217;m expecting very little from Story despite backing Boston to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Red Sox shortstop has struggled in <a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">San Diego<\/a>. He has no hits in the series thus far and has failed to beat this prop in three of his last five games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His head-to-head history against Cease is very troublesome. Story is 1-for-7 against the right-hander with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Story also has some stark home-road splits, which I&#8217;m looking to take advantage of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He owns a strong .283 batting average at hitter-friendly <a href=\"https:\/\/online.northstarbets.ca\/page?key=ej0xMzUyNDU3MiZsPTEzNTc4NzU5JnA9MjM3Njk%3D\">Fenway Park<\/a>, but a noticeably worse .229 average on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Red Sox vs. Padres predictions made at 9:37 a.m. ET on 08\/10\/2025<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres play the rubber match of their weekend series on Sunday.
