Elsewhere, look for Manny Machado to stay red-hot in a plus matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-d0873b89-4dfa-47d6-9954-56140c451c77\">Check out my favourite MLB prop bets for Saturday, Aug. 2, featuring Luis Robert Jr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-22b3784f-32c2-400a-beef-1578a991be49\">MLB prop bets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/sports\/baseball\/competitions\/10065\"><strong>Full MLB betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report\"><strong>MLB injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging\"><strong>MLB player stats<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/standings\/division\"><strong>MLB standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-0c59b741-4781-48d8-8ffa-d93f8ee90c10\"><strong>Best bet: Gomber over 15.5 outs (+100)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On a day with Paul Skenes, Zach Wheeler, Tarik Skubal and Spencer Strider pitching, my favourite pitcher prop is on a guy with a 6.28 ERA throwing at one of the most hitter-friendly venues in baseball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s a tough sell, but I&#8217;ll explain why it&#8217;s worth a bet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yesterday&#8217;s game at Coors Field was a barnburner and forced the Rockies to use four relievers in a bulk role, with each throwing two-plus innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gomber should have a long leash tonight, and he&#8217;s going up against a Pirates team that really struggles to hit left-handed pitching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>PIT vs. LHPs this season:<\/strong> 29th in batting average (.218), 30th in wRC+ (70)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PIT vs. LHPs last 30 days:<\/strong> 28th in batting average (.197), 28th in wRC+ (68)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pittsburgh did put up 16 runs yesterday, but only three of those came against a lefty \u2014 Carson Palmquist \u2014 and it was largely because he walked five batters in 2.1 IP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gomber, for all of his faults \u2014 and there are plenty \u2014 keeps the ball in the zone. His 5.6% walk rate ranks in the 89th percentile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-13bf476e-3f27-4d52-86f2-70dff07fd638\"><strong>Key stat<\/strong>: Gomber has held this Pirates lineup to a .186 batting average over 51 combined plate appearances. He threw 6.0 shutout innings against them last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-ebade6eb-0e6a-4675-8cbc-3a4396c11ac4\">Best MLB picks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-310bddf4-d3c1-4fc6-8fe4-37281455da02\"><strong>Machado over 1.5 bases (-106)<\/strong>: Machado extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single last night. In that span, he&#8217;s batting .500 with four doubles and two home runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-310bddf4-d3c1-4fc6-8fe4-37281455da02\">That&#8217;s a pretty good place to start, and it gets even better when you look at his matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The San Diego Padres take on Michael McGreevy (4.91 ERA) and the St. Louis Cardinals for the second time in a week, and Machado feasted in the first meeting, going 3-for-3 with two doubles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The slugger is batting .319 against RHPs this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McGreevy has given up 23 hits in his last three starts (16.1 IP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Robert to score (+110)<\/strong>: Robert has been a wrecking ball since returning from the injured list on July 8, and I want in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>.352 batting average<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>.429 on-base percentage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>14 runs in 16 games<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The outfielder singled and scored last night and now has a run in four straight games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tonight, the Chicago White Sox take on Kyle Hendricks and the Los Angeles Angels, and Robert has had the righty&#8217;s number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He&#8217;s 5-for-12 against Hendricks with a walk and two home runs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hendricks has been hit hard by righties all year (.298\/.332\/.538 slash line), and he posted a 5.03 ERA in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"block-571cf986-8d14-4776-b519-20fa27d04fec\"><em>MLB prop picks made at 8:54 a.m. ET on 08\/02\/2025<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two hitters and one pitcher make up Saturday&#8217;s MLB prop bets.
