I like the price point on his total bases prop, which the Washington Nationals star has been clearing at a high clip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-1fb8fd5d-1623-4b06-83cc-6471dee8b3c9\">Check out my top MLB prop bets for June 5, featuring predictions on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/jonathan_aranda\/batting-stats\">Jonathan Aranda<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/robbie_ray\/pitching-stats\">Robbie Ray<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-22b3784f-32c2-400a-beef-1578a991be49\">MLB prop bets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-0c59b741-4781-48d8-8ffa-d93f8ee90c10\"><strong>Best bet: Wood over 1.5 total bases (+107)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only five players in MLB have topped 1.5 bases more frequently than Wood, per Team Rankings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The left-handed hitting slugger is raking, entering the day with 16 homers and a .940 OPS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To attack Wood and get leadoff man CJ Abrams to bat from the right side, the Chicago Cubs are deploying lefty opener Drew Pomeranz.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But losing the platoon advantage in his first plate appearance isn\u2019t a huge issue to me, considering how Wood has handled southpaws and who he\u2019ll see after that.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wood is slugging an impressive .520 vs. LHPs with an .865 OPS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once Pomeranz\u2019s day is done, Chicago is turning to righty Colin Rea, who has been much more effective against RHBs this season.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rea doesn\u2019t strike out a lot of batters and doesn\u2019t walk many either, giving Wood a good chance to put the ball in play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-13bf476e-3f27-4d52-86f2-70dff07fd638\"><strong>Key stat:<\/strong> Wood has cleared 1.5 total bases in 11 of his last 15 games, hitting .315 with a 1.048 OPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"cacheembed:114532\">Embed: #114532<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-10146156-2d6b-49a8-b097-37743fd550b5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/baseball\/mlb?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=sportsbook_mlb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Full MLB betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=injury_reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging?utm_source=insights&amp;utm_medium=text_link&amp;utm_term=&amp;utm_content=&amp;utm_campaign=stats_pages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MLB stats &amp; standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-ebade6eb-0e6a-4675-8cbc-3a4396c11ac4\">Best MLB picks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-310bddf4-d3c1-4fc6-8fe4-37281455da02\"><strong>Aranda over 1.5 total bases (+120)<\/strong>: The Tampa Bay Rays first baseman has demolished right-handed pitching and is tearing the cover off the ball at home.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-310bddf4-d3c1-4fc6-8fe4-37281455da02\">He\u2019ll see a right-hander tonight at home when his Rays host Jack Leiter and the Texas Rangers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hard-throwing righty has been a servicable backend arm but has lacked swing and miss and struggled with control, heightening his chances to put himself in hitters&#8217; counts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That should bode well for a bat like Aranda, whose .326 average and 170 wRC+ both rank sixth in MLB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aranda at home: .385\/.460\/.578<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aranda vs. RHPs: .338\/.417\/.556<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The 27-year-old has recorded 17 of his 19 extra-base hits vs. righties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-c3d59bf3-e444-470d-8383-e592fe52f10d\"><strong>Ray over 5.5 Ks (-141)<\/strong>: You can make a case to be on either side of this line or just stay away altogether.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The San Diego Padres are the most difficult team to strike out in the National League and fan at the second-lowest rate vs. lefties in all of MLB.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ray, on the other hand, has been dynamite, sporting an exceptional K rate (top 15 among starters) and working deep into ball games.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That latter point helps make this playable for me.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>San Diego\u2019s offence, while dangerous, has been sputtering.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Padres rank 26th in wRC+ over the last two weeks and have gotten on base at the third-worst clip in baseball over that stretch.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ray has worked six-plus innings in seven consecutive outings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He eclipsed this number in all but one of those starts and put up a 1.38 ERA in six May outings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-c3d59bf3-e444-470d-8383-e592fe52f10d\">And he\u2019ll be at home today, where he has a 1.89 ERA at his pitcher-friendly park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-571cf986-8d14-4776-b519-20fa27d04fec\"><em>MLB prop picks made at 12:25 p.m. ET on 06\/05\/2025<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s light MLB schedule wraps up early, but I&#8217;m still serving up three prop pick recommendations for Thursday&#8217;s action.
