{"id":344709,"date":"2025-05-06T15:44:16","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T19:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.northstargaming.ca\/admin\/nsgcms\/?p=344709"},"modified":"2025-05-06T15:44:17","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T19:44:17","slug":"mlb-prop-bets-and-predictions-may-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.northstargaming.ca\/admin\/nsgcms\/mlb-prop-bets-and-predictions-may-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Best MLB prop bets May 6: Back slugger Tyler Soderstrom and Detroit&#8217;s Torkelson, McKinstry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It&#8217;s a busy Tuesday in MLB, with 16 games on the loaded schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-84329f2b-7888-4034-9979-03e8608897e5\"><strong>Today&#8217;s MLB props narrative<\/strong>: Some poor weather conditions are expected in Colorado tonight, but that&#8217;s not enough for me to pass on good prices on good hitters at Coors Field.\u00a0I&#8217;m also targeting Athletics slugger Tyler Soderstrom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-84329f2b-7888-4034-9979-03e8608897e5\">Check out the best May 6 MLB prop bets on Spencer Torkelson, Zach McKinstry and Soderstrom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-0a4ee124-09d4-4260-81c9-fd6fe232dbb3\">MLB prop bets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/sports\/baseball\/competitions\/10065\"><strong>Full MLB betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report\"><strong>MLB injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging\"><strong>MLB player stats<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/standings\/division\"><strong>MLB standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Best bet: Torkelson over 1.5 total bases (+125)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rain is in the forecast all day, but the heavier&nbsp;stuff is supposed to take place ahead of the game, which projects to have a first-pitch temperature below 10 degrees&nbsp;Celsius.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we have that out of the way, let&#8217;s focus on the good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detroit&#8217;s Torkelson enters tonight&#8217;s game as the team leader in:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Home runs: 10<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Total bases: 67<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OPS: .889&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ISO: .306 (6th in MLB)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Torkelson has topped this line in 50% of his starts this&nbsp;season, according to Team Rankings, and is handling right-handed pitching just fine despite better production with the platoon advantage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colorado is starting right-hander Chase Dollander. The rookie has a 6.48 ERA over five starts, allowing four-plus runs in three of those outings and a total of eight homers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Six of those bombs have been surrendered at home, where he&#8217;ll be tonight at the most hitter-friendly park in the bigs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key stat:<\/strong> Only 10 players have more extra-base hits than Torkelson&#8217;s 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best MLB picks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>McKinstry over 0.5 runs (-118):<\/strong> Sticking with the Tigers, I really like the value on this one tonight.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are other intriguing plus-money options, as this game has several viable plays. But I like McKinstry to score just as much as the Torkelson best bet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McKinstry leads the Tigers with a .375 on-base percentage and projects to bat No. 3 in Detroit&#8217;s lineup, per Rotowire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That likely puts him ahead of Torkelson and Riley Greene, two of Detroit&#8217;s best power bats.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dollander has struggled with control, walking two-plus batters in four straight outings, giving McKinstry a good scoring outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if the Tigers can&#8217;t solve Dollander, they&#8217;ll get a Rockies bullpen that has the third-highest walk rate in MLB and sixth-lowest K rate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detroit should have plenty of scoring chances tonight, and McKinstry has crossed the plate in 53.1% of his games, a top-12 mark in MLB.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Soderstrom over 1.5 total bases (+115)<\/strong>: Soderstrom&#8217;s massive power outburst has slowed down, as he hasn&#8217;t hit a home run since April 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But he still enters the night with an .859 OPS and terrific numbers against right-handed pitching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The left-handed hitting Soderstrom has hit eight of his nine homers vs. RHPs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Soderstrom is slugging .549 vs. righties with a .917 OPS compared to marks of .412\/.676 vs. LHPs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Athletics are at their hitter-friendly home park and will see Seattle Mariners righty Emerson Hancock to start tonight&#8217;s game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hancock has been demolished this season. Lefty batters are hitting .353 against him, and overall, opponents enter with a .347\/.388\/.520 line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Athletics&#8217; Sutter Health Park has been the No. 1 offensive environment in baseball this season, per Baseball Savant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-84329f2b-7888-4034-9979-03e8608897e5\"><em>MLB prop picks made at 3:35 p.m. ET on 05\/06\/2025.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a busy Tuesday in MLB, with 16 games on the loaded schedule.
