{"id":341738,"date":"2025-04-25T14:40:31","date_gmt":"2025-04-25T18:40:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.northstargaming.ca\/admin\/nsgcms\/?p=341738"},"modified":"2025-04-25T14:40:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T18:40:32","slug":"blue-jays-picks-vs-yankees-april-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.northstargaming.ca\/admin\/nsgcms\/blue-jays-picks-vs-yankees-april-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Jays vs. Yankees prop picks April 25: Bet on Jose Berrios and Ben Rice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After Thursday&#8217;s off-day, the Toronto Blue Jays are in the Bronx for their first matchup of the year against the New York Yankees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The pregame narrative:<\/strong> It&#8217;s been a bumpy ride so far for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/jose_berrios\/pitching-stats\">Jose Berrios<\/a>, and I think that&#8217;ll continue on Friday. That&#8217;s why I&#8217;ve got my eye on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/ben_rice\/batting-stats\">Ben Rice<\/a>&#8216;s bases prop \u2014 but I&#8217;m still backing Berrios in some form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out my Blue Jays picks vs. Yankees for April 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blue Jays picks vs. Yankees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Best Bet: Rice over 1.5 hits\/runs\/RBI (-118)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wanted action on Aaron Judge tonight. I really did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But his prop prices to score a run (-195), notch an RBI (-109) and clear 2.5 bases (+107) were just too steep for my liking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m turning to Rice, who you may never have heard of if you don&#8217;t follow the Yankees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rice is New York&#8217;s leadoff man, which means he bats right in front of Judge. That should offer plenty of protection, given that Judge has a 1.247 OPS through 25 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rice is having his own fun in the early stages of Year 2 as a big-leaguer. He&#8217;s batting .288 with a 1.005 OPS through 22 games. And his .315 ISO ranks ninth in the majors \u2014 one spot behind Judge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;d love to describe Rice&#8217;s Baseball Savant page, but I think it&#8217;s better just to show it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nsb-news.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com\/imgs\/2025\/04\/Screenshot-2025-04-25-at-12.40.37%E2%80%AFPM.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-341674\" style=\"width:615px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He&#8217;s tattooing the ball, and I like his chances of keeping that up against the mercurial Berrios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Berrios has a 5.02 ERA and an .851 opponent OPS through five starts. He&#8217;s pitched at Yankee Stadium twice over the previous two seasons, allowing 10 runs on 14 hits in 10.2 innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key stat:<\/strong> The left-hitting Rice has a .340\/.468\/.680 slash line against right-handed pitchers this year (62 plate appearances).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/sports\/baseball\/competitions\/10065\"><strong>Full MLB betting markets<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/mlb-injury-report\"><strong>MLB injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/top-players\/hitting\/OPS-on-base_plus_slugging\"><strong>MLB player stats<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.com\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/mlb\/standings\/division\"><strong>MLB standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quick pick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Berrios over 4.5 Ks (-163):<\/strong> I don&#8217;t have high hopes for Berrios in this start, but I do think he can cash this strikeouts prop while probably also getting knocked around the park a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This just isn&#8217;t a very lofty total for a starting pitcher that consistently tosses 5.0 innings or more (as Berrios has done in all five starts this season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Berrios is averaging 4.8 Ks per outing so far, cashing this bet in 3 of 5 games.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In his past five outings against New York (since May 2023), Berrios has 38 Ks in 30.1 IP. He had 6+ Ks in each of those outings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>New York has the third-highest K rate in the majors (25.1%).
