Caufield, meanwhile, has been surging and holds solid value to score against the Buffalo Sabres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out my NHL anytime goal picks for March 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NHL anytime goal picks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/ice_hockey\">NHL betting markets<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/nhl-injury-report\"><strong>NHL injury report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/nhl\"><strong>NHL player stats<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/stats\/nhl\"><strong>NHL standings<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"cacheembed:110697\">Embed: #110697<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Best Bet: Matthews anytime goalscorer (-150)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a steep price to pay for an anytime goalscorer prop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re not into that, it&#8217;s understandable \u2014 I also like William Nylander to score for Toronto tonight at plus money, which I explain in my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/maple-leafs-prop-picks-vs-sharks-march-3-2025\">Maple Leafs vs. Sharks prop bets<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I&#8217;m double-dipping on Toronto&#8217;s top dogs and for good reason. The Sharks are closer to an AHL team than a Stanley Cup contender and rank near the bottom of the NHL in a handful of meaningful defensive categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out how San Jose sits defensively on a 60-minute basis, per Natural Stat Trick:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>32nd in goals (3.67)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>32nd in shots (31.9)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>31st in chances (66.33)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>29th in high-danger chances (12.69)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s really, really bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matthews hasn&#8217;t quite been himself this season but just got off the schneid on Sunday and is carrying a nine-game point streak into tonight&#8217;s contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-time Rocket Richard winner should have a boatload of opportunities to light the lamp tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key stat:<\/strong> Matthews has 12 goals in 13 career games against the Sharks, scoring in four of the last five meetings between these teams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quick pick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Caufield anytime goalscorer (+155):<\/strong> Team USA decided to leave Caufield at home for the 4 Nations Face-Off and it looks like the 24-year-old is using that to fuel the fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&#8217;s scored in back-to-back games and now sits at 29 goals on the season, which is a career-high mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caufield and the Canadiens aren&#8217;t expected to win on most nights but Montreal should have a solid chance at picking up points against Buffalo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Sabres give up the eighth-most high-danger chances per 60 (11.59). <br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buffalo has the fifth-worst save percentage in the NHL (.893).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Caufield scored a goal against the Sabres on Saturday and had two goals against them on Nov. 11. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Picks made at 2:25 p.m. ET on 03\/02\/2025.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Auston Matthews and Cole Caufield are my picks to score during Monday&#8217;s NHL action.
