I&#8217;m backing the Bruins captain to get on the score sheet with other picks on Leon Draisaitl and Drew Doughty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out my NHL prop picks for Feb. 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NHL prop picks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Go to<\/strong> <strong>full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/sports-hub\/ice_hockey\/nhl\">NHL betting markets<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"cacheembed:108566\">Embed: #108566<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Best bet: Marchand to score 1+ points (-124)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In early December, something switched on for the 16-year NHL veteran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oct. 8 &#8211; Dec. 1:<\/strong> 26 games, 17 points<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dec. 3 &#8211; Feb. 4:<\/strong> 29 games, 25 points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Marchand is now on pace to score his fewest points in a decade, but that speaks more to his consistency as a hockey player than a poor season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 60-point campaign is far from a bad year and Marchand can achieve that for the 10th straight time if he keeps playing well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few months ago, the New York Rangers would&#8217;ve been a tough matchup, but things have gone south in the Big Apple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After starting the season 12-4-1, New York has been 13-19-3 since then and is at risk of missing the playoffs after winning the Presidents&#8217; Trophy in 2023-24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bruns took advantage of the spiralling Rangers on Feb. 1, winning 6-3 and furthering the gap in the wild-card race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key stat:<\/strong> In that contest, Marchand had two assists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quick picks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Draisaitl to score 2+ points (-108):<\/strong> This is quite the juice for anyone to score two-plus points but it needs some context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Draisaitl is on a monumental tear. Over the past 28 games, he has 47 points to catapult himself into second in the NHL in scoring (79). He&#8217;s also the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarbets.ca\/sportsbook\/news\/article\/nhl-hart-trophy-odds\">favourite to win the Hart Trophy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that 28-game stretch, Draisaitl recorded 16 multi-point games. So he&#8217;s a strong threat to cash this prop against anyone, and I haven&#8217;t even mentioned the matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chicago Blackhawks allow the third-most goals (3.4) and shots (31.5) per game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Draisaitl has been held scoreless in just nine of 53 games this season. His floor is extremely reliable, and I like his chances of doing extra damage vs. the Blackhawks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Doughty to score 1+ points (-114):<\/strong> Doughty recently made his season debut for the Los Angeles Kings, and he wasted no time getting up to speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&#8217;s averaged 25:17 of ice time through three games, tallying his first point of the season in L.A.&#8217;s Feb. 1 matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doughty has reclaimed his place on the top power-play unit, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Montreal Canadiens offer up a bad defence and Doughty will be on the ice a ton. At the very least, he should be in all the right spots to contribute on offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Montreal allows the fifth-most goals (3.3) per game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Picks made at 9:30 a.m. ET on 02\/05\/2025.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are only three games on tap in the NHL on Wednesday but I found a pick from each that&#8217;s worth sharing.
