It seems to be a one-man race for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest: <\/strong>T.J. Watt is the odds-on favourite to win his second DPOY, with Patrick Surtain II being the only other player with odds shorter than 20-to-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The favourite: T.J. Watt (-182)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watt has been consistently one of the best defensive players in the NFL since he came into the league.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The six-time Pro Bowler has 101.0 sacks and 32 forced fumbles since 2018, leading the league in both categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite missing seven games in 2022 (torn pec), Watt still has more sacks than fellow stars like Myles Garrett, Nick Bosa and Trey Hendrickson since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Myles Garrett had a nice season last year, but I believe Watt was snubbed in a tight DPOY race. Garrett received 23 first-place votes, while Watt had 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ex-Wisconsin Badger had more tackles, sacks, fumble recoveries and interceptions than Garrett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pittsburgh (10-4) is in first place in the AFC North, and Watt has been an integral part of its success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year picked up right where he left off in 2023. Will Anderson (+2,000) is sixth in sacks (10.5) and tied for seventh in tackles for loss (14). He leads a Houston Texans defence that gives up the fourth-fewest yards per game (302.4) and currently sits atop the AFC South.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • Since entering the league, Patrick Surtain II (+400) has been a lockdown corner. The former ninth-overall pick is already a two-time Pro-Bowler and was a first-team All-Pro selection last year at just 23 years old. Surtain is tied for eighth in interceptions (four) and first in interception return yards (132).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • Xavier McKinney (+2,000) has done everything asked of him since the Packers signed him this offseason. He leads the league in interceptions (seven) and is third in interception return yards (111). McKinney has the highest snap count on the Packers’ eighth-ranked scoring defence by a wide margin.
