The Toronto Maple Leafs battle their biggest rival, the Boston Bruins, on Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pregame narrative:<\/strong> Few rivalries in today’s NHL are stronger than the one shared by Toronto and Boston. I’m picking the latter to beat the former at home tonight. The under seems like the right side with both offences struggling, although I do like the value on Pavel Zacha notching a point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maple Leafs picks vs. Bruins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Best Bet: Bruins moneyline (+100)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boston and Toronto are destined for a seven-game series whenever they meet in the playoffs. But in the regular season, the results haven’t been quite as close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bruins have won seven consecutive regular-season meetings between the two squads dating back to 2023. Four of those contests have been one-goal games, but three have been three-plus goal victories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both teams are slumping ahead of this contest with Toronto dropping three of its last four and Boston losing three straight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I give Boston the slight edge in this matchup for a couple of reasons. The first is home-ice advantage. Toronto hasn’t won a road regular season game at TD Garden since March 29, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, Toronto’s success is directly tied to its top forwards and the trio of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander have been quiet recently. The three have combined for just seven points over the squad’s last four outings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t expect that group to come alive in a difficult matchup. Back the Bruins in a close game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key stat:<\/strong> The Maple Leafs have only scored six goals in three road games this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quick picks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Under 6 goals (-120):<\/strong> I don’t expect this contest to turn into a track meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent offensive results concur with that. The Bruins have scored two goals or fewer in three consecutive games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Maple Leafs, meanwhile, have scored two goals or less in three of their last four outings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both goaltenders are capable of keeping this total down, too. Anthony Stoalrz has been excellent in 2024-25, boasting a .938 save percentage through five starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy Swayman’s start to the season has been inconsistent, but he has a .904 save percentage and is still one of the best in the league.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It doesn’t hurt that Swayman posted a .950 save percentage in six games against the Maple Leafs last postseason, either. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zacha to score 1+ point (-106):<\/strong> Zacha is slumping to begin the 2024-25 campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bruins forward is pointless in his last six games after notching a point in back-to-back contests to open the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there’s reason to remain positive. For starters, he skates on Boston’s first line alongside Elias Lindholm and David Pastrnak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, he’s on Boston’s top power play. That kind of usage will always catch my eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
