Thursday Night Football pick

49ers vs. Seahawks (Thursday, Oct. 10: 8:20 p.m.)

Embed: #96941

NorthStar Bets line: San Francisco -3.5
Toman says: Both teams are coming off terrible Week 5 losses and the 49ers remain without game-changer Christian McCaffrey. But even at home, I’m not touching the Seahawks, who’ve had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL and were pummeled for 42 points against the only contender they faced. Tonight will also mark their third game in 11 days.
Pick: 49ers -3.5

NFL Week 6 ATS picks: The early Sunday slate

Jaguars vs. Bears (Sunday, Oct. 13: 9:30 a.m.)

Embed: #96942

NorthStar Bets line: Chicago -2
Horrobin says: It’s unfair that this London game counts as a home game for the Bears. The Jaguars are the ones who should feel at home, playing for the 11th time across the pond since 2013. Chicago is 3-0 ATS as a favourite this year, but all of those games were played at Soldier Field. I’m buying in on Jacksonville, which racked up a season-best 37 points last week.
Pick: Jaguars +2

Cardinals vs. Packers (Sunday, Oct. 13: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #96943

NorthStar Bets line: Packers -5
Perri says: Which version of the Cardinals are we going to see on Sunday? I’m banking on the one that played the Bills close, blew out the Rams and upset the 49ers. Kyler Murray has been solid while Jordan Love has looked a little shaky since returning from injury. The Packers are 0-3 against this line with Love under centre this season.
Pick: Cardinals +5

Browns vs. Eagles (Sunday, Oct. 13: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #96945

NorthStar Bets line: Philadelphia -9.5
Perri says: The Browns are bad but are they 9.5-point underdog bad? Yeah, probably. Deshaun Watson ranks dead last in EPA per play and has failed to throw for 200-plus yards all season. A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith both return for the Eagles and I can see them having a statement game after a much-needed bye week.
Pick: Eagles -9.5

Texans vs. Patriots (Sunday, Oct. 13: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #96946

NorthStar Bets line: Houston -7
Perri says: Drake Maye makes his first NFL start on Sunday against a Texans defence with the ninth-highest pressure rate in the league. Maye doesn’t have many weapons to work with and his offensive line is terrible. This is a tough spot for a rookie. C.J. Stroud and Co. should cruise to a win in Foxborough.
Pick: Texans -7

Colts vs. Titans (Sunday, Oct. 13: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #96949

NorthStar Bets line: Tennessee -2.5
Horrobin says: Michael Pittman Jr. is out this week, and Jonathan Taylor isn’t trending positively after missing last week. The Titans, meanwhile, are far more rested coming off the bye and had an encouraging result in Week 4 (a 19-point win at Miami). Tennessee’s No. 1 total defence should make it hurt for Indy’s shorthanded offence.
Pick: Titans -2.5

Buccaneers vs. Saints (Sunday, Oct. 13: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #96951

NorthStar Bets line: Tampa Bay -3.5
Toman says: Both teams have been up and down early on but I believe in the Buccaneers’ offence a lot more. That’s especially true with quarterback Derek Carr facing a multi-week absence. New Orleans opened with back-to-back 40-point games but has been held under 15 in two of the past three weeks. It shouldn’t be any easier with a rookie QB (Spencer Rattler) set to make his NFL debut.
Pick: Buccaneers -3.5

Commanders vs. Ravens (Sunday, Oct. 13: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #96952

NorthStar Bets line: Baltimore -6.5
Horrobin says: Jayden Daniels has already drawn comparisons to reigning MVP Lamar Jackson, and now we get a side-by-side comparison. Daniels’ Commanders, who are on a four-game win streak, have the No. 1 scoring offence in the NFL (31.0 PPG). Baltimore has only covered this spread once this season.
Pick: Commanders +6.5

NFL 4 p.m. slate

Chargers vs. Broncos (Sunday, Oct. 13: 4:05 p.m.)

Embed: #96953

NorthStar Bets line: Los Angeles -2.5
Horrobin says: After two one-score losses to start the year, Denver has three victories in a row — including a pair of wins as the underdog. Bo Nix is making better decisions and giving his strong defence a chance to thrive. This game has the lowest over/under of the week, and I feel good backing the home side with points.
Pick: Broncos +2.5

Steelers vs. Raiders (Sunday, Oct. 13: 4:05 p.m.)

Embed: #96954

NorthStar Bets line: Pittsburgh -3
Closs says: The Steelers allow the second-fewest points (14.6/game) and held four of five opponents to 20 points or less. Las Vegas is making a QB change as Aidan O’Connell will start in place of the struggling Gardner Minshew. The Raiders rank 22nd in points scored (19.2/game) and I expect Pittsburgh’s defence to dominate.
Pick: Steelers -3

Falcons vs. Panthers (Sunday, Oct. 13: 4:25 p.m.)

Embed: #96955

NorthStar Bets line: Atlanta -6
Toman says: The Falcons’ three wins have come by nine combined points. Andy Dalton had the Panthers looking respectable in consecutive weeks but it was against two last-place teams (Bengals, Raiders). Carolina followed that up with its third 20-plus point loss. Kirk Cousins has the Falcons’ offence humming and that should be the difference against the Panthers (1-4 ATS), who allow an NFL-high 33.0 PPG.
Pick: Falcons -6

Lions vs. Cowboys (Sunday, Oct. 13: 4:25 p.m.)

Embed: #96956

NorthStar Bets line: Detroit -3
Horrobin says: Who’s excited to see Detroit’s rushing offence against a weak, depleted Dallas front? Coming off a bye, the Lions should be well prepared to win in the trenches against a Cowboys defence that allows the fourth-highest rush success rate. Detroit is 3-1 ATS this year, while Dallas is 0-2 ATS at Jerry World.
Pick: Lions -3

Sunday and Monday night ATS picks

Bengals vs. Giants (Sunday, Oct. 13: 8:20 p.m.)

Embed: #96957

NorthStar Bets line: Cincinnati -3.5
Perri says: Joe Burrow is playing at an MVP pace yet the Bengals are 1-4. Over the past three weeks, Cincinnati has averaged 35 points per game with close losses to some good teams. The Giants’ defence is sneaky-good but this is a must-win game for the Bengals. I expect them to right the ship on SNF.
Pick: Bengals -3.5

Bills vs. Jets (Monday, Oct. 14: 8:15 p.m.)

Embed: #96958

NorthStar Bets line: Buffalo -2.5
Perri says: Two teams that desperately need a win meet on MNF. New York fired head coach Robert Saleh and I expect the team to respond. Josh Allen hasn’t looked himself lately with back-to-back stinkers and the Jets’ defence turned him over five times in two games last season.
Pick: Jets +2.5

Staff Week 5 + season-long records: Toman: 7-6-1 (38-35-5) | Closs: 4-9-1 (36-37-5) | Horrobin: 6-7-1 (31-42-5) | Psihogios: 7-6-1 (31-42-5) | Perri: 5-8-1 (30-43-5)
