Best MLB prop bets April 27: Pick Dansby Swanson to do damage in plus-money prop

MLB prop bets

Three unsung heroes look to cash plus-money picks in my MLB prop bets for Sunday.

The pregame narrative: Dansby Swanson is turning it around at the plate, and a juicy matchup makes him an eye-catching play. William Contreras is playing well and facing a pitcher he’s dominated in the past. Lastly, I’m betting on another big punchout performance from Max Meyer.

Check out the best MLB prop bets for April 27.

Best Bet: Swanson over 1.5 total bases (+180)

These odds are too good to ignore for several reasons.

Firstly, Swanson is heating up as April closes. The Chicago Cubs infielder has a hit in five of his last seven games, with three extra-base hits during this stretch. His average is still a lowly .188, but it has climbed from .169 over the last 10 days.

He’s seeing the ball well and making solid contact. Swanson boasts an 85th-percentile hard-hit percentage (51.3), according to Baseball Savant.

The excellent defender faces off against a pitcher he’s seen plenty of in Philadelphia Phillies ace Aaron Nola. Swanson has 63 at-bats versus Nola, and he’s done the following:

  • 15 hits
  • Five doubles
  • Three home runs

The power he’s shown against Nola, combined with his impressive hard-hit rate, is encouraging for this prop.

I’m betting on Swanson showing off some power against a familiar foe on Sunday Night Baseball.

Key stat: Swanson has cashed this prop in three of his last four games.

Best MLB picks

Contreras over 1.5 total bases (+128): Contreras started the year with only two hits in his first eight games. He’s been significantly better since the slow start to the campaign.

Contreras is batting .313 across his last 18 games, recording at least one hit in 17 of those contests. He’s cashed this wager in six games during this stretch and is primed for another two-plus base performance on Sunday.

Contreras’ Milwaukee Brewers battle the St. Louis Cardinals with Erick Fedde taking the mound. The catcher has done some significant damage against the Cardinals starter in 11 at-bats:

  • Seven hits
  • Two home runs

Expect Contreras to continue tormenting Fedde on Sunday.

Meyer over 6.5 strikeouts (+117): This is a tall task for most pitchers, but Meyer has been up to the challenge.

The Miami Marlins starter has been excellent in 2025. He’s beaten this prop in four of his five starts this season, totalling 41 punchouts on the year.

His last effort was his most impressive. Meyer fanned 14 Cincinnati Reds in six innings of work.

His Marlins battle the Seattle Mariners, who rank 20th in strikeout percentage (23.2%).

Meyer’s swing-and-miss stuff is elite, as he boasts 93rd-percentile whiff and K rates this year. He should be able to showcase his talents in Sunday’s contest.
