NHL anytime goal picks Nov. 19: Back Leo Carlsson, Seth Jarvis to score on Wednesday

NHL goal picks

Two underrated scorers are featured in Wednesday’s NHL goal picks.

The pregame narrative: Seth Jarvis is having a strong season for the Carolina Hurricanes, who are first in the Metropolitan. They play the Minnesota Wild tonight. In the final game on Wednesday, take the value on budding superstar Leo Carlsson.

NHL goal picks Nov. 19

Best Bet: Jarvis to score (+140)

After scoring 30+ goals in back-to-back seasons, Jarvis is set to reach new career-highs.

He has 10 goals in 19 games so far, putting him on pace for 43. That kind of season would make him one of the top goal scorers in the NHL.

Jarvis hasn’t scored in four games either, but this is a great spot to get back on track.

The Wild allow the ninth-most shots per game (29.3) and have the fourth-worst penalty kill (71.7%).

-> Wager on Jarvis at NorthStar Bets

That could spell trouble against the Hurricanes, who average 33.6 shots and 3.63 goals. Both of those marks rank in the top three.

And Jarvis leads the way. His 10 goals and 60 shots are the most of any Carolina player.

Key stat: Jarvis has six goals in 10 road games this season.

NHL predictions

Carlsson to score (+160): The Anaheim Ducks have shocked the NHL with one of the best offences in the NHL.

They are tied for second for goals per game (3.63) while taking the fourth-most shots per night (30.0).

A lot of that success is due to Carlsson’s rise to stardom.

-> Bet on Carlsson and the Ducks tonight!

Take a look at the 20-year-old’s stats and where they rank in the NHL:

  • 11 goals (tied for 14th)
  • 26 points (8th)

Despite all of that, he has the third-shortest odds on the Ducks to score.

Another aspect of this pick is my intent to fade the Boston Bruins’ defence.

Boston allows the ninth-most goals per game (3.29) and will be without top defenceman Charlie McAvoy for the foreseeable future.

Blues vs. Maple Leafs prop picks Nov. 18: Bet on William Nylander to produce

Blues vs. Maple Leafs prop picks

The reeling Toronto Maple Leafs host the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday in what feels like a must-win game.

The pregame narrative: Toronto has lost five straight, sits 15th in the Eastern Conference, is missing Auston Matthews indefinitely, and plans to have general manager Brad Treliving address the media at some point today. Woof. The Maple Leafs are still favoured, though, over the 6-9-4 Blues.

Check out my Blues vs. Maple Leafs prop picks for the game on Nov. 18, featuring William Nylander.

Blues vs. Maple Leafs prop picks

Best Bet: Nylander to score 2+ points (+130)

It’s time for Nylander to step up.

The Swedish winger is under fire for recording zero shots in consecutive games for the first time since the 2019 season.

I’ll chalk that up as a freak occurrence which happened at a bad time.

Nylander still recorded an assist in each of those games, and is now on a 13-game point streak dating back to Oct. 14. In that span, he is 7-6 against this line.

-> Wager on Nylander to contribute for the Maple Leafs

Nylander’s 26 points rank fourth in the NHL, and St. Louis is one of the only teams worse off than Toronto.

The Blues have lost 11 of their last 14 games and are getting horrific goaltending out of Jordan Binnington (3.34 GAA, .869 SV%) and Joel Hofer (4.04 GAA, .867 SV%).

Allow me a bold prediction: Nylander won’t go shotless tonight. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if he fired half a dozen pucks on net.

His line with John Tavares and Nick Robertson should do damage.

Key stat: Nylander has 22 points in 12 home games this year.

NHL anytime goal picks Nov. 18: Bet on Jason Robertson to continue streak

NHL goal picks

Jason Robertson is on a heater, and he headlines Tuesday’s NHL goal picks.

The pregame narrative: Robertson and the Dallas Stars look for a sixth straight win when they take on the New York Islanders tonight. Before that, take the value on Timo Meier with one of his star teammates out of the lineup.

Check out my NHL goal picks for Nov. 18.

NHL goal picks Nov. 18

Best Bet: Meier to score (+188)

With Jack Hughes out of action for the next several weeks, Meier has carved out an even bigger role for the New Jersey Devils.

In their first game without Hughes, Meier played a whopping 24:22 on ice and recorded five shots.

He didn’t score, but that’s a great baseline to work with moving forward.

Overall, he has five goals this season. Not great, but I’ll put a positive spin on it.

  • Meier ranks second on the Devils (behind Hughes) with 60 shots. No one else has more than 40.
  • His 8.3 shooting percentage is bound to improve. He has finished each of the last five seasons above 10%.

-> Wager on Meier at NorthStar Bets

I’m expecting regression to the mean, and this is a good spot to back Meier.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are a below-average defensive team, allowing 3.06 goals per game.

Key stat: Meier scored in his first meeting with the Lightning this season.

Embed: #121135

NHL predictions

Robertson to score (+140): Robertson has been on fire. He has six goals during his three-game scoring streak.

He started the season slowly with just three goals in his first 16 games, but this recent stretch is more indicative of his offensive level.

-> Bet on Robertson and the Stars tonight!

Robertson deserves to be a top goalscorer. His 11.3 expected goals rank third in the NHL. Nathan MacKinnon, who has 14 goals, has the same amount of xG.

There aren’t many who let it rip like Robertson. He’s taken the second-most shots on goal in the league (82).

Despite that, the sniper is still priced at +140 to score, and I want in.

Tonight’s opponent, the Islanders, has a lacklustre defence in front of a struggling Ilya Sorokin (.898 SV%).

Best NHL prop picks

Kyrou to score 1+ points (+102): Toronto’s defence is hanging on by a thread right now. Brandon Carlo and Chris Tanev are out, which leaves two sizeable holes in the top four.

But it’s not like the Leafs played well with them in the mix, either.

-> Bet on Blues vs. Maple Leafs at NorthStar Bets

Toronto has allowed the third-most chances (63.87) and fourth-most shots (31.04) on a 60-minute basis, per Natural Stat Trick.

Kyrou has been one of St. Louis’ best players, ranking second in points (12) and first in shots (44) and chances (94).

NHL prop picks Nov. 17: Bet on Connor McDavid, Mikhail Sergachev on Monday

NHL prop picks Nov. 17

Connor McDavid headlines Monday’s NHL prop picks.

The pregame narrative: McDavid is rolling, ranking second in points through the first month and change of the season. He has a solid opportunity to add to his goal total tonight when the Edmonton Oilers play the Buffalo Sabres

Check out my NHL prop picks for Nov. 17, featuring a pick on Utah Mammoth defenceman Mikhail Sergachev.

-> Join NorthStar Bets to start betting on the NHL

NHL prop picks

Best bet: McDavid to score (+125)

You have to feel bad for Sabres fans at this point.

Buffalo is again at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 16 points in 18 games. There are no signs of improvement either, as the squad has dropped eight of its last 10 contests.

During that stretch, the Sabres have allowed an unsightly 4.1 goals per game.

All three of Buffalo’s goalies who have played this year have a goals-against average north of 3.00, and it appears 25-year-old Colten Ellis will get the start tonight. Ellis has allowed eight goals in his last two games and would be making his fourth career start.

-> Bet on McDavid and the Oilers tonight

With all that said, this shapes up to be a mouth-watering matchup for McDavid.

He’s not skating with Leon Draisaitl, but that doesn’t matter. McDavid drives his own line and leads all Oilers forwards in the following 5v5 marks, per Natural Stat Trick:

  • Shots (39)
  • Scoring chances (48)
  • High-danger chances (19)
  • Expected goals (4.80)

Key stat: McDavid has eight goals in his last 10 games.

NHL predictions

Sergachev to score 1+ point (-120): Sergachev has been a beast in his second season with Utah.

The 6-foot-3 defenceman leads the team in ice time (24:58) by a wide margin and has been extremely active in the offensive zone.

-> See Monday’s player prop markets at NorthStar Bets

Sergachev was held pointless through the first six games of the season, but has gone nuclear since:

  • 3 goals
  • 11 assists
  • 1+ point in 10 of 12 games

Utah is playing on the road against the Anaheim Ducks, who have lost three straight. Goaltender Lukas Dostal, who’s expected to start, has an .895 SV% in November.

NHL prop picks Nov. 16: Bet Golden Knights’ Barbashev to shine

NHL prop picks

A small, five-game slate on Sunday presents an intriguing NHL prop pick.

The pregame narrative: On such a small slate, the options aren’t quite as plentiful. I’m honing in on Ivan Barbashev as a strong choice to find the score sheet.

Check out my NHL prop picks for Nov. 16.

-> Join NorthStar Bets to start betting on the NHL

NHL prop picks

Best Bet: Barbashev to score 1+ point (-106)

Barbashev is pointless in his last two games, but I’m still looking to back the Vegas Golden Knights forward.

The winger is having a very nice month of November, registering six points in six games.

His spot in the lineup is what catches my attention. Barbashev plays on Vegas’ top line alongside Jack Eichel and Braeden Bowman.

-> Join NorthStar Bets to bet on Barbashev now

The former is the player who obviously piques my interest. Eichel is off to a great start this season, tying for ninth in league scoring with 24 points.

Barbashev is having a strong season in his own right. He’s totalled 16 points in 17 games, cashing this wager in 10 games this year.

NHL prop picks Nov. 16: Bet on Lightning’s Kucherov, Golden Knights’ Barbashev to shine

NHL prop picks

A small, five-game slate on Sunday presents a pair of intriguing NHL prop picks.

The pregame narrative: Nikita Kucherov is having a down year by his standards, but the matchup is right for a strong performance. Elsewhere, Ivan Barbashev is a strong choice to find the score sheet.

Check out my NHL prop picks for Nov. 16.

NHL prop picks

Best Bet: Kucherov to score 2+ points (+125)

Most players would be ecstatic if their stat line looked like Kucherov’s, but his expectations are a little different.

The three-time Art Ross Trophy winner only has 15 points in 15 games this year. He scored a point in yesterday’s win over the Florida Panthers after going pointless in the two previous games.

-> Bet on Kucherov and the Lightning tonight

The matchup is right, however, for Kucherov to break through with a big performance.

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Vancouver Canucks, who are struggling mightily to keep the puck out of the net.

  • Vancouver allows the fourth-most goals per game (3.53).
  • The Canucks allow the sixth-most expected goals per game (3.56).

Vancouver doesn’t enter this contest with much to feel good about, either. The team has allowed four-plus goals in six of its last seven games.

Expect Kucherov to capitalize on a favourable matchup and deliver a vintage performance.

Key stat: Kucherov still has five multi-point outings despite a slow start to the year.

Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks prop picks Nov. 15: Bet on Toronto’s Robertson to deliver

Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks prop picks

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks square off in an Original Six showdown on Saturday night.

The pregame narrative: These two teams enter tonight’s game heading in opposite directions. Toronto has dropped four straight contests, while Chicago has won three of its last four. Which players will play a key role in this matchup?

Check out my Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks prop picks for the game on Nov. 15.

Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks prop picks

Best Bet: Andre Burakovsky to score a point (-108)

Burakovsky is back after missing some time with an illness, and that’s great news for prop bettors.

Burakovsky has been an excellent wager on this market all season long. The Chicago forward is third on his team with 14 points in 15 games.

He’s delivering while enjoying his expanded role in the Chicago offence.

Burakovsky is playing on the first line and top power-play unit, putting him at the forefront of Chicago’s offensive attack.

-> Bet on Maple Leafs vs. Blackhawks at NorthStar Bets

More specifically, he’s attached to Connor Bedard’s hip.

The budding superstar is enjoying an excellent start to the campaign. Bedard has 10 goals and 26 points through the first 17 games of the campaign.

Playing alongside somebody as talented as Bedard is always a boost to your chances of notching a point.

Additionally, the matchup is right for Burakovsky to deliver.

Toronto is struggling mightily to keep the puck out of its net. The Maple Leafs are tied for ceding the most goals per game in the league (3.83).

Bet on a stellar performance from Burakovsky.

Key stat: Burakovsky has 10 points in his last seven games.

Best NHL prop picks

Nick Robertson to score 1+ points (+110): It used to be difficult for Robertson to earn opportunities in Toronto’s stacked offence.

Not anymore.

Mitch Marner is gone, and Auston Matthews is out with an injury. The Maple Leafs are desperate for any signs of offence, and Robertson is one of the few forwards delivering.

The shifty forward has eight points in his last eight games, tying for fourth among all Maple Leafs players during this stretch.

-> Wager on Robertson to contribute for the Maple Leafs

Robertson is averaging 15:37 in ice time during this stretch, which is significantly higher than his usage from the first nine games (12:34).

Backing Robertson seems like a wise idea with his deployment on the rise.
