Yankees vs. Blue Jays SGP predictions July 3: Target Clarke Schmidt, Addison Barger at +300

Yankees vs. Blue Jays predictions

The Toronto Blue Jays look for a four-game sweep over the New York Yankees on Thursday.

The pregame narrative: With it would come sole possession of first place in the AL East. However, Clarke Schmidt gets the start for the Yankees, and he’s been sizzling hot. Across from him starts Chris Bassitt for the Jays.

Check out my Yankees vs. Blue Jays predictions for July 3, including Schmidt and Addison Barger.

Yankees vs. Blue Jays predictions

SGP: Yankees ML | Schmidt over 3.5 Ks | Barger 1+ hits (+300)

Yankees ML (-127): I think it’s finally time New York gets one back in this series.

The Yankees should have the pitching advantage with Schmidt on the mound. He has a 3.09 ERA in 13 starts, and his xERA of 2.66 is even better, indicating some bad ball luck.

He recently went 28.1 innings pitched straight without giving up a run. That consisted of three consecutive starts with no runs allowed.

Schmidt’s streak came to a rough end when he allowed four earned runs to the Athletics in his last outing. But that doesn’t erase the amazing results from his past six starts:

  • 1.64 ERA
  • Seven earned runs in 38.1 IP.
  • Held opponent scoreless in four of six starts.

It’s hard to fade Toronto right now with how its offence is rolling. The Jays have scored 23 runs in the past two games. But if there’s anyone whose form can match that, it’s Schmidt.

And it’s not like the Yankees have been bad. They have scored 18 runs in the first three games of this series.

A shutdown performance from a starting pitcher is the support the offence desperately needs to get one back against a divisional rival.

In the righty’s one start against Toronto this season, he worked 5.0 innings, gave up one run, and the Yankees won 5-1.

Bassitt works opposite Schmidt on Thursday and he’s in the middle of a rough patch of starts. He gave up eight runs in his last appearance and has a 6.57 ERA over his last seven starts.

MLB SGP legs

Schmidt over 3.5 Ks (-245): The obvious red flag with this pick is that the Blue Jays strike out fewer times per game than any other team (6.73).

But Schmidt’s standard line of 4.5 Ks already felt low, so buying down on a teased line made sense for a parlay.

  • The Yankees starter has cleared this total in 11 of his 13 starts.
  • In his first meeting with the Jays, he logged six Ks on 90 pitches.
  • He has 5+ Ks in seven of his past nine starts.

I’m banking on Schmidt working late into this game, which will elevate his strikeout opportunities.

He’s pitched five or more innings in 10 of his past 11 starts.

Barger over 0.5 hits (-186): The Blue Jays’ breakout power hitter has been hot with the bat.

Dating back to May 26, Barger has a hit in 23 of 31 games. Over that span, he’s batting .283 and has nine of his 10 home runs for the season.

As good as Schmidt has been, he has one thing working against him in this matchup – he’s a righty.

Barger bats from the left side and loves a platoon advantage. The left-handed batter hits .270 vs. RHP compared to .229 vs. LHP.

The 25-year-old is coming off a two-hit night with one of those being a home run.

FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal predictions: Best bets for Chelsea vs. Palmeiras, Fluminense vs. Al Hilal

FIFA Club World Cup predictions

The FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals kick off on the Fourth of July and wrap up the following day.

The latest: Chelsea looks to keep rolling in its matchup against Palmeiras, a Brazilian side that hasn’t been tested to this point. Before that, Fluminense and Al Hilal meet with a spot in the semifinals up for grabs.

Check out the best FIFA Club World Cup predictions for the quarterfinal matches on July 4.

FIFA Club World Cup predictions

Best bet: Chelsea to win (+108)

Chelsea looks like a true contender to win the FIFA CWC.

  • The English club went 2-1 in the group stage, with the one loss coming in a game where attacker Nicolas Jackson was shown a red card.
  • Chelsea beat Benfica, 4-1, in the round of 16.
  • The side from London has scored in each match so far and is averaging 2.5 goals per game.

Its quarterfinal opponent, Palmeiras, hasn’t faced much competition to this point and will take a big step up against Chelsea.

The Brazilian side has faced Porto, Inter Miami, Al Ahly and Botafogo at the FIFA CWC.

Miami is the best of the four teams, and it drew 1-1 with Palmeiras.

Key stat: Chelsea is 6-1 in its last seven matches across all competitions.

Fluminense vs. Al Hilal best bet

Fluminense/Al Hilal over 2.5 goals (-105): Al Hilal is coming off a 4-3 thriller over Manchester City in the round of 16.

That offensive outburst is nothing new to the Saudi side. It leads the Saudi Pro League with 95 goals for. The next closest team has 80.

With that comes some defensive woes, however. Al Hilal has conceded more goals (41) than any other team in the top five.

Fluminense just upset Inter Milan in the round of 16 and scored two goals against one of the best defences in Europe this past season.

Either of these teams could break out for a few goals, with a back-and-forth contest also a strong possibility.

Wimbledon second-round picks and predictions July 3: Best bets on Canadian Victoria Mboko, Draper vs. Cilic

Wimbledon second round predictions

One Canadian is in action on Thursday at Wimbledon.

The pregame narrative: Rising star Victoria Mboko continues her run in London against Hailey Baptiste in the second round. On the men’s side, Jack Draper looks to fight off a seasoned veteran, Marin Cilic, who’s on his best playing surface.

Check out my top Wimbledon predictions for July 3, including a pick on Grigor Dimitrov vs. Corentin Moutet.

Wimbledon predictions: July 3

Best Bet: Mboko -1.5 games (-118)

Mboko, 18, was inserted into this tournament just hours before it began as a lucky loser after Anastasia Potapova withdrew.

She took full advantage and disposed of world No. 24 Magdalena Frech in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).

  • Mboko is proving to be a fast learner, and she’s getting better on grass as each match passes. She has a 3-1 record on the surface this year and covered this spread in two of those wins.
  • Her opponent on Thursday, Hailey Baptiste, is 2-2 on grass in 2025 and comes into this match in poor form, losing three of her last five matches overall.

Baptiste has failed to make it past the second round in 12 of the 16 events she’s played in this season.

Key stat: Additionally, Mboko should be hard to break. She has held 79.2% of her service games this year with a 45-7 overall record.

Wimbledon best bet: Draper vs. Cilic

Draper/Cilic over 35.5 games (-118): This seems like a blowout for Draper on paper but Cilic has some juice left in the tank.

  • Cilic, the 36-year-old Croatian, has accumulated a 7-1 record on grass in 2025.
  • Cilic has always been a specialist on the surface with a 95-35 career record. That’s far and away his best win rate on any court type.

Although a lot of his matches were played in the Challenger Series, Cilic’s results can’t be ignored. He notched five of his seven wins in straight sets.

Draper is 4-1 on grass this season, coming off a run to the semifinal at Queen’s Club. He did need all three sets to win two of those matches, though.

In a five-set match at Wimbledon, Cilic would need to win at least one set or keep all three sets close enough for this over to cash. I’m confident he has that in his locker.

Best bet: Dimitrov vs. Moutet

Moutet to win (+170): There is a lot of value backing the Frenchman to win this matchup.

  • Moutet is shaping into a phenomenal grass player, holding a 9-3 record on the surface this season.
  • His three losses came against Alexander Zverev (No. 3), Jacob Fearnley (No. 51) and Tallon Griekspoor (No. 29)
  • Mixed in are wins against Taylor Fritz (No. 5), Daniel Altmaier (No. 57) and Alex Michelsen (No. 32).

He’s played a lot of tough competition, putting together a really good record in the run-up to Wimbledon.

Moutet’s second-round opponent, Grigor Dimitrov, lost three straight matches ahead of this Grand Slam tournament. In June, Dimitrov decided to rest rather than play any matches on grass.

That lack of preparation has me worried for his chances against a red-hot Moutet.

Plus, the 26-year-old Moutet is eight years younger than his competitor, with strong results in their past meetings.

Moutet is 2-0 against Dimitrov in his career. One of the wins was at Wimbledon back in 2019 when the underdog was only 20 years old.

CFL Week 5 predictions, picks and best bets: Back Hamilton to win, BC to keeps things close vs. Montreal

CFL Week 5 predictions

The CFL season rolls into Week 5 with some compelling matchups on the schedule.

The latest: It looks like good news for the BC Lions, who could be getting Nathan Rourke back ahead of a clash with the East Division-leading Montreal Alouettes. Before that, the Toronto Argonauts look to start a turnaround against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Check out the latest CFL Week 5 predictions for the games beginning Thursday, July 3.

CFL Week 5 predictions

Best bet: Tiger-Cats moneyline (-110)

Things are getting ugly for the Argos, who will now be without Chad Kelly until at least Week 7.

Behind backup quarterback Nick Arbuckle, Toronto is 1-3 (0-2 at home) with a -22 point differential.

The 31-year-old QB is tied for the CFL lead with six interceptions. The offence’s inability to protect the ball has put the defence in tough positions regularly.

Toronto has allowed 112 points through four games.

Hamilton is 1-2 but is coming off an 18-point win over the Alouettes. The Ti-Cats own a +1 point differential despite their losing record.

Bo Levi-Mitchell is easily the better QB here. He’s completed 67.8% of his passes for 887 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

The Tiger-Cats have played three teams with winning records so far, and now they get a soft landing spot to take advantage of against the struggling Argos.

Key stat: Hamilton won all three games vs. the Argonauts last season.

CFL Week 5 best bets

Lions +3.5 (-110): The Alouettes look like they won’t have Davis Alexander at QB again, and that spells trouble.

Without the 26-year-old last week, Montreal lost for the first time this season, 35-17, against the Ti-Cats.

Backup QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson completed 24 of 41 passes for 202 yards and one TD (two INTs).

It’s clear that the Alouettes aren’t the same without Alexander. So far this week, Bethel-Thompson has been taking practice snaps as the starter while Alexander practiced in limited fashion with the second unit.

For BC, Nathan Rourke was back at practice preparing with the starters ahead of Saturday’s contest.

His availability is just as important as Alexander’s, and it could give the Lions a huge edge.

  • Backup Jeremiah Masoli has thrown two TDs and six INTs this season in relief for Rourke.
  • In Rourke’s two starts, he has been much better with four touchdowns with only one turnover.

The Canadian completed one full game for his team this season. He led the Lions to 31 points over the Edmonton Elks in Week 1.

Draper/Cilic over 35.5 games (-114): This seems like a blowout for Draper on paper but Cilic has some juice left in the tank.

Best MLB prop bets July 2: Back Hunter Brown, Clayton Kershaw and Addison Barger for Wednesday’s 19-game slate

MLB prop bets

Two big-name starting pitchers highlight the best prop picks for Wednesday’s loaded MLB slate.

Today’s MLB props narrative: There are 19 games today! That provides us with all-day betting action and Houston Astros righty Hunter Brown tops the list as my No. 1 target. Brown has been dominating and gets one of his juiciest matchups yet: a date with the lowly Colorado Rockies.

Check out my top MLB prop bets for June 27, featuring predictions on Clayton Kershaw — who gets his own tasty opponent.

MLB prop bets

Best bet: Brown over 6.5 Ks (-134)

This isn’t a huge line to clear but it’s big enough to warrant consideration. And the venue, Coors Field, adds its own level of risk.

But there are too many positives to ignore, making this a smash play as far as I’m concerned.

Brown has been one of the best pitchers in MLB by several metrics.

He leads all starters in ERA (1.84) and is third in strikeout rate (32.1 K%). Brown’s also top 10 in FIP, and is allowing homers and walks at below-average rates.

The 26-year-old has surrendered two earned runs or fewer in 14 of his 16 starts, handling opponents far more potent than this.

  • Colorado has the highest K rate vs. RHPs and is last in wRC+.
  • The Rockies are an MLB-worst 19-66 and are scoring the fourth-fewest runs per game.

Brown enters this salivating matchup having punched out nine-plus batters in three of his last four outings.

Key stat: Brown is 11-5 vs. a 6.5 strikeout line this season.

Best MLB pick

Kershaw over 4.5 Ks (-134): The Los Angeles Dodgers veteran has generally been strong since making his season debut in mid-May, and he’s been particularly excellent over his last three outings.

  • June 26 @ COL: 6 IP, 2, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K
  • June 20 vs. WSH: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K
  • June 14 vs. SF: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K

Kershaw had a season-high seven strikeouts before that three-start stretch, meaning he has cleared this line in three of his last four outings.

The 37-year-old will see the Chicago White Sox, who have the second-highest K rate in MLB vs. southpaws.

Chicago has been punched out more than all but two teams over the last 30 days, sporting the second-worst wRC+ over that time.

MLB prop picks made at 1:00 p.m. ET on 07/02/2025.

Yankees vs. Blue Jays SGP predictions July 2: Bet on Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to have bounce-back performance

Yankees vs. Blue Jays predictions

The Toronto Blue Jays can tie the New York Yankees atop the AL East with a win on Wednesday.

The pregame narrative: A red-hot Jose Berrios starts for Toronto opposite Will Warren for the Yankees. The Jays won the first two games and can guarantee a series win with another victory tonight.

Check out my Yankees vs. Blue Jays predictions for July 2, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Addison Barger.

Yankees vs. Blue Jays predictions

SGP: Over 7.5 runs | Guerrero over 1.5 total bases | Barger 1+ hits (+300)

Over 7.5 runs (-195): There have been a combined 26 runs through two games in this series, and I don’t expect the offence to slow down.

Both clubs set a high standard with the bats, scoring at least four-plus runs apiece in both contests.

It wouldn’t be crazy for one team to cover this teased-down total alone. Toronto did just that yesterday, winning 12-5, led by an offensive outburst from George Springer.

Warren will take the mound for New York on Wednesday, and his 4.37 ERA is decent but nothing to write home about.

For the Jays, Berrios has been excellent (1.66 ERA over last six starts), but his head-to-head stats against the Yankees raise concerns.

In 144 career at-bats, New York’s active lineup is batting .285 off Berrios. That includes Aaron Judge, who is 14-for-37 (.378) with five home runs.

Embed: #115434

MLB SGP legs

Guerrero over 1.5 total bases (+123): After Guerrero’s 0-for-5 showing on Tuesday, I’m ready to jump right back on the Vladdy train.

Take a look at his stats over the past 22 games.

  • .293 AVG
  • .524 SLG
  • 43 total bases
  • 14-8 against this wager

His average is only slightly elevated from his season average, but he’s starting to hit for some serious power. Four of his 12 home runs came in that span.

Warren throws either a four-seam fastball or a sinker 58.7% of the time. Guerrero has a .339 average against those pitches this season.

Barger over 0.5 hits (-210): When he’s in the lineup, Barger has been very consistent at cashing this over.

He got the day off yesterday, but he should be right back in the heart of the order with how he’s swinging the bat.

Here’s how he’s performed across the last 30 games:

  • .275 AVG
  • .550 SLG

And more importantly, he had a hit in 22 of those contests.

Barger hits better against right-handed pitching, too. The utility man has a .265 average vs. RHPs and a .235 average vs. LHPs.

First-round Wimbledon predictions for Canada’s top stars: Tennis picks on Auger-Aliassime, Diallo and Fernandez

Wimbledon predictions

Three popular Canadian tennis players are in action in the first round at Wimbledon on Monday.

The pregame narrative: The yearly Grand Slam major played on grass begins with Felix Auger-Aliassime taking on James Duckworth. Gabriel Diallo also gets his tournament started on Monday against Daniel Altmaier.

Check out my top Wimbledon predictions for the June 30 tennis matches, featuring a pick on Leylah Fernandez vs. Hannah Klugman.

Wimbledon predictions: June 30

Best Bet: Auger Aliassime -5.5 games (+107)

Auger-Aliassime is having a roller coaster of a season, and he’s currently making a climb.

The Canadian went 5-3 on grass in preparation for Wimbledon and advanced past the first round in all three of the events.

He lost to some quality opponents, but the good news for this matchup is that he’s comfortably taken care of lower-seeded players.

That brings me to Duckworth, who is currently ranked No. 106 in the world. He’s 5-4 on grass, and he hasn’t beaten a top 50 player this year on the surface.

On top of that, he’s been crushed by Auger-Aliassime in their career meetings. FAA is only getting better, while Duckworth is on the decline at 33 years old.

Key stat: In two meetings since the start of 2020, Auger-Aliassime is 2-0 vs. Duckworth, winning all five sets. The Canadian covered this line in their one career Grand Slam matchup (6-4, 6-1, 6-2).

Full tennis betting markets

Diallo Wimbledon prediction vs. Altmaier

Diallo under 21.5 games won (-122): The 23-year-old from Montreal is shaping into a very good player on grass.

  • He’s 8-2 on the surface this year.
  • He won his first-ever ATP singles title on grass at the Libema Open in June.

He doesn’t have the best history against Altmaier, losing both matches, but they’ve never played on grass. I predict that to be a huge factor in this chapter.

And that’s because it’s easily the German’s worst playing surface. He’s never finished a season with a win rate above 50% on grass and holds a 9-16 career record on the surface.

Altmaier has won more than 53% of his matches on every other surface, so it’s a clear weakness for him.

Expect Diallo to use his long, powerful frame to push a pace early that his opponent won’t be able to match.

The Canadian has held 91.2% of his service points on grass this season. This is a good way of backing Diallo to win in straight sets with three games of insurance to work with.

Best bet for Fernandez vs. Klugman

Fernandez/Klugman under 18.5 games (+106): Of all the Canadians on the women’s side, Fernandez got the best draw.

Her 16-year-old counterpart will be a great player one day, but she isn’t ready for Wimbledon yet.

Klugman went 6-3 on clay this season, but her 0-2 start on grass has followed a familiarly bad trend.

In her short career, the English tennis player is 4-12 on the surface. She does her best work on the red dirt but also has a winning record on all other court types.

Both of Klugman’s matches on grass were played on the WTA tour, so it’s comparable competition to what Fernandez will provide.

She managed to win just 10 games across those two matches, with both going under this total.

Fernandez is coming off a competitive outing (7-6, 7-6) against Jasmine Paolini (No. 4). She fell short in the matchup but looks to be in good form heading into London.

FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 prop picks: Bet on Lautaro Martinez and Serhou Guirassy

FIFA Club World Cup prop picks

The FIFA Club World Cup has reached the round of 16.

The latest: Borussia Dortmund topped Group F, setting up a favourable matchup against CF Monterrey in the first round of the knockout stage. Before that, Lautaro Martinez looks to lead Inter Milan’s attack in its match against Fluminense.

Check out the best FIFA Club World Cup prop picks for the round of 16 matches featuring Martinez and Serhou Guirassy.

FIFA Club World Cup prop picks

Bet on the FIFA Club World Cup now

Best Bet: Guirassy to score (-120)

Guriassy isn’t burying goals at a high clip at the moment, but it hasn’t been due to a shortage of chances.

In the final two group stage fixtures, he had seven shots on target in total.

Monterrey is a side in the Mexican league (Liga MX) and did well in the group stage, finishing with two draws and a win.

The team also conceded just one goal against Inter Milan, but clean sheets against a Japanese side (Urawa Reds) and River Plate don’t make Monterrey a defensive juggernaut.

Inter Milan had 15 shot attempts in its game against Monterrey in the group stage.

Key stat: Guirassy had 21 goals in 29 starts in the Bundesliga this past season.

Full FIFA Club World Cup betting markets

Inter Milan vs. Fuminense best bet

Maritnez to score (+150): Martinez is a goal-scoring machine for Inter Milan.

  • He scored in two of the three group stage matches.
  • He attempted 11 shots total in those fixtures.

The Argentine attacker went on a tear over the second half of this past season. Since Jan. 6, he has scored in 16 of 30 matches for the Italian giant (18 goals total).

And now he gets a soft matchup against Fluminense, the sixth-place team in the Brazilian Serie A. The side has allowed more goals (12) than any other top-eight team in its league.

FIFA Club World Cup prop picks made at 11:30 a.m. on 06/29/2025.
