Betting insights

  • Dallas’ Luka Doncic will be out for at least a week due to a wrist strain. Among the players labelled as questionable for tonight are: Nikola Jokic, Brandon Ingram, Nic Claxton and Anfernee Simons.
  • Boston is a 16.5-point favourite at Washington, tied for the largest point spread of the season. The Wizards have lost their last nine games and are 0-5 ATS as a double-digit underdog this season.
  • Paul George is out for Philadelphia with a left knee bone bruise. The Sixers own the league’s worst ATS record at 3-11-0 and are 0-5 ATS as a favourite this season. Brooklyn is 9-3-1 in its last 13 games and is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 against Philly.
  • Tonight’s clash between the Hawks and Bulls is projected to be a track meet. The O/U total is set at 246, which is the highest for both teams this season. According to Statmuse, Chicago has the fastest pace (104.2) by a team and Atlanta plays at the third-fastest (103.3).
  • Indiana is 11-2 to the over in its 13 games. However, Milwaukee is 5-10 to the under this season. The total for this contest is 236.5, a mark the Bucks have exceeded just once in their last 13 games.

NFL Week 12 ATS staff picks: Predictions against the spread for every game

NFL Week 12 ATS picks

Last week was another strong week for favourites, who posted a 9-5 record against the spread. Can underdogs respond in this week’s 13-game slate?

The latest: The heaviest underdogs for NFL Week 12 are the Carolina Panthers (+11), and one of our staff writers is backing them at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. There’s one pick’em on the docket, as the Seattle Seahawks host the Arizona Cardinals.

Check out our NFL Week 12 ATS picks for predictions on every game.

NFL Week 12 ATS picks

NorthStar Bets’ Avery Perri, Jordan Horrobin, Spencer Closs and Chris Toman offer up their NFL Week 12 ATS picks for all 13 games.

Thursday Night Football pick

Steelers vs. Browns (Thursday, Nov. 21: 8:15 p.m.)

Embed: #101028

NorthStar Bets line: Pittsburgh -3.5
Perri says: This feels like a trap game for the Steelers, who have won their last two contests by a combined three points with a +3 turnover differential. It’s going to be wet and cold in Cleveland and I don’t trust Pittsburgh’s 30th-ranked red zone offence to engineer a blowout win.
Pick: Browns +3.5

NFL Week 12 ATS picks: The early Sunday slate

Cowboys vs. Commanders (Sunday, Nov. 24: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #101033

NorthStar Bets line: Washington -10.5
Toman says: This spread could be a touchdown more and I’d still probably take the Commanders. The Cowboys (2-8 ATS) are cooked, losing by more than 20 points in consecutive games since Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury. They haven’t scored more than 10 points and have given up 34 points both times. There isn’t much more to it than that.
Pick: Commanders -10.5

Lions vs. Colts (Sunday, Nov. 24: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #101030

NorthStar Bets line: Detroit -7.5
Closs says: Detroit continues to destroy its opposition on the ground and the Colts aren’t good at stopping the run. Indianapolis allows the fifth-most rushing yards (143.1) per game. The Lions have covered this spread in five of the past seven games and I expect them to do it again on the road against the Colts.
Pick: Lions -7.5

Chiefs vs. Panthers (Sunday, Nov. 24: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #101035

NorthStar Bets line: Kansas City -11
Horrobin says: Kansas City is 9-1 but has only covered this number once. Seven of the Chiefs’ games have been decided by one score, and they bring a four-game ATS losing skid into Carolina this week. I’m not bullish about the Panthers, but they did post back-to-back wins before last week’s bye. The vibes are the highest they’ve been in Charlotte since Bryce Young’s draft night.
Pick: Panthers +11

Vikings vs. Bears (Sunday, Nov. 24: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #101034

NorthStar Bets line: Minnesota -3.5
Perri says: Chicago has lost four straight games but is still 6-4 against this number this season. The Bears came inches away from beating the Packers on a blocked field goal last week and Sam Darnold hasn’t looked sharp following the bye (3-2 record, eight TDs, six INTs). Buy low on the Bears in a bounce-back spot.
Pick: Bears +3.5

Patriots vs. Dolphins (Sunday, Nov. 24: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #101032

NorthStar Bets line: Miami -7.5
Closs says: With Tua Tagovailoa back at QB, the Dolphins are coming alive. They won back-to-back games and had a close three-point loss against the Bills. New England is 2-4 on the road and three of those losses came by double-digit points. I feel good about the Dolphins covering this lofty spread in Week 12.
Pick: Dolphins -7.5

Buccaneers vs. Giants (Sunday, Nov. 24: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #101029

NorthStar Bets Line: Tampa Bay -6
Toman says: Tampa enters on a four-game skid but has played competitive football since losing star receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Its last three losses have all been by six points or fewer. The good news, coming off a bye, is that Evans intends to play in Week 12 against an offensively challenged Giants team that’s undergoing a change at QB. New York is averaging an NFL-low 15.6 PPG.
Pick: Buccaneers -6

Titans vs. Texans (Sunday, Nov. 24: 1 p.m.)

Embed: #101031

NorthStar Bets line: Houston -8
Horrobin says: Nico Collins didn’t have a huge game in his return for Houston last week, but his presence still makes me feel good about the Texans’ chances to run it up. The Titans are in shambles, going 1-9 ATS this season and losing four of their past five games by 10-plus points. Last season, Houston went 2-0 ATS against Tennessee.
Pick: Texans -8

NFL 4 p.m. slate

Broncos vs. Raiders (Sunday, Nov. 24: 4:05 p.m.)

Embed: #101036

NorthStar Bets line: Denver -6
Horrobin says: Denver is 7-2 ATS in its past nine games, which includes a 16-point victory over Las Vegas last month. The Broncos are also 4-0 ATS as favourites this year, and Bo Nix is currently playing some respectable ball (114.5 QB rating, 9:1 TD-to-INT ratio in his past four games). Vegas is 1-5 against this number since the start of October.
Pick: Broncos -6

Cardinals vs. Seahawks (Sunday, Nov. 24: 4:25 p.m.)

Embed: #101037

NorthStar Bets line: Seattle -0.5
Closs says: Siding with the home team is usually smart in divisional games but I don’t think that’s the case here. Seattle is 2-4 at home and owns a 1-2 divisional record. The Cardinals are 6-4 overall, 2-2 on the road and 2-0 in divisional games. Over the past two weeks, Arizona has scored 60 points while allowing only 15 and I believe it can extend its win streak to five over the Seahawks.
Pick: Cardinals +0.5

Make your NFL Week 12 predictions

49ers vs. Packers (Sunday, Nov. 24: 4:25 p.m.)

Embed: #101039

NorthStar Bets line: Green Bay -2
Perri says: San Francisco choked away another fourth-quarter lead last week but I expect a market correction against a Packers team which hasn’t impressed me. Green Bay needed a miracle to beat Chicago and is 2-6 ATS with Jordan Love under centre. The 49ers offence was prolific last season and I expect it to start heating up with Christian McCaffrey back in the fold.
Pick: 49ers -2

Sunday and Monday Night NFL ATS picks

Eagles vs. Rams (Sunday, Nov. 24: 8:20 p.m.)

Embed: #101040

NorthStar Bets line: Philadelphia -3
Perri says: Philadelphia has been bullying teams since its Week 5 bye with a 6-0 record and +80 point differential. In that span, the Birds are perfect ATS against this number and rank first in defensive EPA per play. Los Angeles has looked better since its star receivers returned but Philly seems to be a legitimate buzzsaw.
Pick: Eagles -3

Ravens vs. Chargers (Monday, Nov. 25: 8:15 p.m.)

Embed: #101041

NorthStar Bets line: Baltimore -2.5
Horrobin says: The Chargers are built to run the ball, but Justin Herbert proved last week that he can shine in a laser show, too. L.A. is on a four-game ATS win streak while scoring 25-plus points in each of those matchups. Baltimore is 1-3 ATS in its past four and has a pair of outright losses as the favourite in its past two road games.
Pick: Chargers +2.5

Staff Week 11 + season-long records: Toman: 9-5 (86-75-5) | Closs: 8-6 (82-79-5) | Psihogios: 5-9 (79-82-5) | Horrobin: 9-5 (75-86-5) | Perri: 8-6 (73-88-5)

The latest: The Orlando Magic are on a back-to-back and play a Los Angeles Lakers team which has won six straight. Before that, Victor Wembanyama will miss a third straight game for the San Antonio Spurs but Chris Paul is likely to suit up despite a thumb injury.

Orlando Magic vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Betting insights

  • Victor Wembanyama (right knee contusion) will miss his third straight game on Thursday. San Antonio is 4-9 SU when Wembanyama is inactive.
  • In recent seasons, matches between the Pistons and Hornets have been low-scoring affairs. The last seven games between them have all gone under.
  • Scottie Barnes could return for the Raptors on Thursday after participating fully in Wednesday’s practice. He has missed the last 11 games due to a right orbital fracture. Toronto is 30th in 3-point shots made (10.5) and attempted (31.0) per game. Meanwhile, Minnesota has allowed the fewest 3-point shots per game (11.5).
  • Orlando is 7-0 to the under in their last seven games. Tonight’s total between the Magic and Lakers is set at 217.5, a mark the Magic have gone under in nine of their past 10. The Lakers are on a six-game winning streak and are undefeated in all seven of their home games this season.

NBA schedule, odds and betting lines Nov. 20: Magic look to extend win streak against Clippers

NBA schedule

Wednesday’s NBA slate has eight games, featuring a red-hot Eastern Conference team playing on the West Coast.

The latest: Five teams are 6.5-point favourites or greater, including the Cleveland Cavaliers who suffered their first defeat of the season to the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the surging Orlando Magic look to extend their winning streak to seven games when they play the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome.

Betting insights

  • Tonight’s over/under for Hawks vs. Warriors is 238.5 points, the second-highest projected total of the evening. Five of the last six games between these sides have gone over this mark. Atlanta is 11-4 on overs this season.
  • Indiana comes off a 130-119 defeat to the Raptors on Monday. The Pacers are 7-0 SU after a loss this season and own the best ATS record after a loss (33-16-2) since 2023. Houston is 6-2 ATS when playing at home this season.
  • Oklahoma City has beaten Portland in 13 consecutive games (10-3 ATS). The Trail Blazers could get Anfernee Simons back in the lineup after he missed the last two games due to illness. Portland are 3-0 ATS and SU in their last three games, including back-to-back upset victories over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
  • The Magic are on a six-game winning streak despite missing Paolo Banchero to injury. However, they are 2-6 ATS on the road this season. Meanwhile, the Clippers are 1-6 ATS after a win and are without Norman Powell (left hamstring strain) for this matchup.

NHL schedule, odds and betting lines Nov. 19: Jets and Panthers rematch in Winnipeg, Oilers end road trip in Ottawa

NHL schedule

There’s a light seven-game NHL schedule today, but still a handful of exciting matchups.

The latest: The Edmonton Oilers look to snap a two-game skid before returning home when they play the Ottawa Senators tonight. Elsewhere, the Winnipeg Jets look to get back on track against the Florida Panthers.

Check out the latest NHL schedule for Tuesday, Nov. 19.

New York Islanders vs. Calgary Flames

Embed: #100802

New York Rangers vs. Vancouver Canucks

Embed: #100803

Betting insights

  • The Oilers finish their trip to East Canada with a game in Ottawa. Edmonton looked like it was turning things around with a three-game winning streak before dropping two straight to Toronto and Montreal. Ottawa is a good home team with a record of 5-2-1 while the Oilers are better on the road going 5-3-1. This should be a barnburner between two teams looking to climb in the standings.
  • Winnipeg won 15 of its first 16 games but now is the loser of back-to-back games. The Jets can get redemption for one of those losses against the Panthers in the second half of a home-and-home series. Despite losing 5-0 in Florida, the Jets are currently the slight favourite.
  • The final game of the night may be the most exciting. New York travels to the West Coast to take on the Canucks. The Rangers have an 11-4-1 record but are fourth in the stacked Metropolitan division. Kevin Lankinen had a great start to the year in goal for Vancouver but has allowed 16 goals over his last four starts.
  • Can Pittsburgh turn things around? Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have turned back the clock on offence but only two other players have double-digit points (Erik Karlsson and Rickard Rakell with 11). The Penguins score the 11th-fewest goals (2.7) while allowing the most (3.9) per game. Things don’t get easier with the Lightning in town tonight.

NBA Cup schedule, odds and betting lines Nov. 19: Unbeaten Cavs host Celtics, Lakers look to stay hot

NBA schedule

Tuesday night features a six-pack of NBA Cup games.

The latest: The reigning champion Boston Celtics host the undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers in an Eastern Conference heavyweight showdown. Later, the Los Angeles Lakers look to extend their winning streak to six.

Betting insights

  • Cleveland is 15-0 and owns the second-best ATS record (11-4) in basketball. It has covered three straight double-digit spreads. The Celtics are 50-8 at TD Garden since the start of last season (regular season and playoffs) and have won five of their last six against the Cavs in Boston.
  • The one team with a better ATS record than the Cavs is the Brooklyn Nets (10-3-1). They’ve only been favourites three times this season and are 2-1 ATS in those games. The Charlotte Hornets, meanwhile, are 17-29 ATS as road underdogs since the start of last season.
  • The San Antonio Spurs host an Oklahoma City Thunder team that is 4-1 against them since 2023 with four double-digit wins. OKC is 3-1 ATS as a road favourite this season.
  • The Lakers are on a five-game winning streak behind some spectacular play from LeBron James and Anthony Davis. AD is averaging a career-high 31.1 points per game, while King James is at 22.2 points during the streak with four triple-doubles. L.A. hosts the Utah Jazz, who have the second-worst net rating in the NBA.

Betting insights

  • Notable players who’ve been ruled out for Monday: Paolo Banchero, Scottie Barnes, DeMar DeRozan and Tyrese Maxey. Among the players with a questionable tag — as of 8:30 a.m. — are Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid.
  • Toronto and Indiana’s four matchups last season were all track meets. The over went 4-0, and every game went over 250 points. Tonight’s total is set at 233.5 points, which is a total the Raptors have gone under in five of their past six.
  • The highest overs rate of the young season belongs to the Hawks, who’ve hit the over in 11 of 14 games (78.6%). They’re on the road to face a Kings team that has the sixth-best offensive rating and has hit the over in four of their past five games.
  • The Clippers have won four games in a row against the Warriors, including a 112-104 win on the road as 9-point underdogs last month. Los Angeles is an underdog again, this time at home, against a Golden State team whose only loss since their last meeting came against the unbeaten Cleveland Cavaliers. Oh, and the over has cashed in seven straight Warriors games.
