This week’s NFL slate is loaded with great matchups.
Week 6 at a glance: Two-thirds of the games on tap have a spread under a touchdown, so fans should be treated to nail-biting action. That includes a Sunday Night Football showdown between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs, and both games on Monday Night Football’s doubleheader.

Key storylines:
- No undefeated teams remain in the NFL after the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles went down last week. It was a big week for upsets across the board, with three of the four biggest underdogs (San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots) winning outright.
- The Baltimore Ravens are on the ropes after a 1-4 start. They’re 7.5-point home underdogs against the Los Angeles Rams with reigning MVP Lamar Jackson on the shelf. Somehow, Baltimore is still favoured to win the AFC North.
- Joe Flacco is on the move — again. The 40-year-old veteran was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals, who are praying to get their offence back on track after losing Joe Burrow to a foot injury in Week 2.
- Detroit is the hottest team in football, averaging north of 40 PPG during its four-game winning streak. The Lions are underdogs at Arrowhead Stadium in prime time and can send the Chiefs into uncharted waters (2-4 start) with a win.
- Daniel Jones’ hot start has become impossible to ignore. The seventh-year QB has led the Indianapolis Colts to a 4-1 record, ranking first in QBR (79.7) and third in passing yards (1,290). Indy is a 7.5-point favourite against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.
- Only two teams are on bye this week, the Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans.

NFL Week 6 betting notes
- Starting Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton was sent to the injured reserve last week. That leaves a tandem backfield of Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal, with Najee Harris already sidelined. One of them should pop off against a Miami Dolphins defence ranking last in rushing yards per game.
- The Cleveland Browns have lost 21 straight regular-season games in Pittsburgh. And they’ll be travelling back from London to take on a Pittsburgh Steelers team fresh off a bye. Mike Tomlin is 16-1 SU against rookie quarterbacks at home since he joined Pittsburgh in 2007.
- The Green Bay Packers are the largest favourites on the board (14.5 points) against Flacco and the Bengals. Cincinnati is averaging fewer than 20 PPG in the 19 games Burrow has missed with an injury, and has a -76 point differential over the last two weeks.
- Can Buffalo get right on Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons? The Bills are 13-3 SU on the road (or a neutral site) following a loss with Josh Allen. They’ve won those games by an average of 9.9 points.
- The NFC has had the upper hand on the AFC this year, going 18-9 ATS in its 27 cross-conference games.
Biggest spreads: Bengals vs. Packers (-14.5); Rams (-7.5) vs. Ravens; Cardinals vs. Colts (-7.5)
Highest totals: Lions vs. Chiefs (52.5); Bills vs. Falcons (50); Cowboys vs. Panthers (49.5)
